Lingfield Point Attracts Magnet Expansion

Kitchen retailer Magnet has increased its presence at Darlington’s Lingfield Point.

Magnet already occupied a 12,000 sq ft space but has now taken a 76,000 sq ft unit.

Simon Hay, warehouse operations manager at Magnet, said the retail giant is a growing company and added that the move is “very important to our future”.

“Our original base at Lingfield Point gives us everything we need, with top class on-site facilities and extensive security,” he said.

“After looking around the region we could not find anywhere that came close so we were delighted Lingfield could accommodate such a huge expansion.

“The new site represents a commitment by Magnet to continue to invest in Darlington and will create a fit for purpose facility to support our future growth strategy.”

Jonathan Simpson of Connect Property North East said the deal represents the largest warehouse letting in the Tees Valley so far this year.

Eddie Humphries, Lingfield Point estate manager, added: “There’s only one thing we love more than welcoming new customers and that’s seeing our existing firms grow and prosper like Magnet.

“The fact we have exemplary transport links – with road, rail, sea and air routes all within 30 minutes’ drive time – will be important to Magnet, along with the knowledge that we have a genuine understanding of what makes the logistics market move.”
